In Europe over 70% of people live in cities. As this urbanization is planned and managed and how the city obtained, they process and use of resources are key factors in determining the condition of urban areas in terms of employment, environment, health, education and overall quality of life.
The role of cities is fundamental in defining policies and instruments capable of steering the transition of our society towards more efficient patterns of resource use through innovation and knowledge sharing.
