Camogli
Camogli and its beautiful Golfo del Paradiso is another remarkable example of village in the Italian Riviera. Camogli is characterized by narrow and steep streets. However the main attraction is the port full of small boats whose colors reflect in the surface of the sea.
In Liguria there are others destinations close to the sea such as Beigua Nature Park, the widest area for conservation purposes. Of interest is Aveto Nature Park and the famous Antola Nature Park.
Portofino
Portofino is one of the most famous touristic destinations, well-known for its luxurious look but able to offer much more than that.
To begin with Portofino became in 1977 a Nature Park which offers a unique ecosystem in terms of diverse environments and morphology.
The village maintains that original, old-fashioned Italian look that characterizes the surroundings as well. At the same time it hosts modern facilities to cope with the great numbers of tourists every year.
Visiting Portofino you will experience the life style of an old sea village where there is no traffic and the typical rush of a city.
Cinque Terre
The Cinque Terre (Italian pronunciation: is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It is in the Liguria region of Italy, to the west of the city of La Spezia. “The Five Lands” comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Over the centuries, people have carefully built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea. Part of its charm is the lack of visible corporate development. Paths, trains and boats connect the villages, and cars cannot reach them from the outside. The Cinque Terre area is a very popular tourist destination.
Alassio
A pearl set in the Western Riviera Ligure, besides being known as the land of sun, of sea, of entertainment, of sport, and the famous chocolate “Baci”, a real speciality, Alassio is particularly noted for being encircled by natural beauty which makes it an ideal resort on the ligurian gulf.
From the flourishing fishing village that it was, with the birth of international tourism d’elite, Alassio has become aone of the most elegant resort on the Riviera, surrounded by trees and plants, by the flowers of its gardens, by splendid villas on the lower hillside and characterized by its almost four kilometres of the finest quarz and calcareous sand, sloping gently into the sea with hardly any incline.
The town proposes hotels, residences, and over 100 beach establishments able to offer high quality service and to satisfy the most varied needs even in the winter season during which it’s possible to enjoy moments of relax and well – being on the beach protected by hooded basket chairs (Strandkorb) used widely in the north of Europe.
Sanremo
There is no an official name for its citizens, somesay Sanremaschi (those whose family is entirely from Sanremo), Sanremesi (those who were born in Sanremo but have different roots) and Matuziani (a rarely used ancient Roman name that identify whoever lives in Sanremo).
Sanremo is well-known for many reasons, one of this is the flower cultivation that gave to the city the status of “Città dei Fiori” (City Flower). Furthermore it is the finish line of the Milano-Sanremo a cycling race held every year since 1907, one of the stages of the FIA World Rally Championships as well as one of the European Poker-Tour. Also there is a Casinò, one of the four in Italy.
However the main event in Sanremo is a music festival famous throughout the country broadcast since the first edition in 1951.
Sanremo experiences a warm Mediterranean climate, with comfortable warm days followed by the cool mornings and nights.
